One of my earliest childhood memories is walking alongside my Grandfather as we admired his endless row of perfect rose bushes that ran alongside his fence. The beauty of the various colored soft petals, the sweet perfume smell would fill the summer air, and it was captivating. Often our walks through his back yard would ultimately end at his garden of herbs and vegetables, where he would harvest peppermint, cilantro, ripe tomatoes, green beans or whatever plant was ripe for the picking that day. The various holistic properties that flowers, herbs, vegetables and fruits have to offer was firmly instilled in me at a young age. I am forever grateful to have learned that lesson as it still resonates with me today.

Much later in life I started attending yoga classes a few times a week at a local studio. Yoga taught me how to truly slow down, breathe, create balance, stretch and challenge myself. Introducing yoga into my life gave me the tools to find space in my day, feel better about myself and made me aware that self-care is never selfish.

In 2016 I attended a yoga retreat in Massachusetts to meet with my first Ayurveda Health Counselor and attended workshops regarding Ayurvedic health practices. In 2017 I also traveled to an Ashram in the Bahamas to learn more about Ayurveda studies from prominent teachers in the field. Ayurvedic healthy eating guidelines along with daily self-care routines became part of my daily lifestyle. I introduced foods, herbs, exercises, essential oils, meditation and other daily routines into my life to help balance my constitutions. A health philosophy that embraced herbs, oils, sensory therapies, nature, yoga…. sign me up – I was hooked!

I completed my 600-hour Ayurveda Health Educator Certification through Yoga on High (Columbus Ohio) a sister school with the California Collage of Ayurveda in 2018. Soon after I completed the first level of my studies, I began teaching workshops at local yoga studios around the Cleveland area. Also, upon my completion of my AHE I entered into my internship in October of 2018 with the Belly Mind Institute out of California where I continue to earn my certification in Ayurveda Health Counseling.

My journey also inspired me to become a Yoga Teacher and I earned my 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification from Heartwood Yoga Institute in 2020.

Another early passion in my life was to help others. After earning a degree in Mental Health from the University of Toledo and also a degree in Social Work from Cleveland State University, I have spent over 20 years of my life working in the social services field assisting both teens and the elderly population.

I am now combining my love for helping others along with my Ayurveda studies. I established A New HoriZen in 2018 with the passion and desire to educate, support, empower, encourage and IGNITE others to realize their own HEALTH EVOLUTION. Sharing the Ayurveda philosophy to live a harmonious lifestyle through education, self-care, sensory therapy, diet and exercise that is tailored to each special individual.
